DeviantArt is censoring me
I have just received this fucking notice telling me that my artwork titled "Resistance", uploaded last month in support of Palestine, was being deleted for meeting the definition of 'Hate Content'. Behold the aforementioned piece: And once again, as in my last Palestine piece, the question is: what could possibly be misconstrued as "hate content" in this? I did not draw anyone killing anybody. No guns, no missiles, no blood or gore. If the Zionist lowlife who reported me and the imbecile who had my post deleted are so threatened by the national symbols of Palestine, hell, by Palestinian existence itself... if to them, Palestinian identity is synonymous with hate groups and terrorism, then they are the ones guilty of bigotry, not me. In other words, this blatant act of censorship says more about their character than it does about mine. The great disparity of power that I always stress when talking about Israel/Palestine is perfectly exemplified here. DeviantArt has made
Two days ago I posted this artwork in support of the Palestinian people resisting the oppressive, unjust, apartheid Israeli occupation. Look at it. It features a shirtless dude, with a keffiyeh wrapped around his face, holding aloft a Palestinian flag. I did not draw him holding any guns, or firing them; I did not draw him launching any missiles; I did not draw him triumphantly stepping over corpses, or bathing in innocent people's blood. It's just a dude carrying a flag. In the accompanying caption I stated that, as horrible and regrettable as violence is, it is not my place to tell an oppressed people (who, by the way, have exhausted every means of non-violent resistance) that they can't fight. I stated that the roots of this bloodshed lie in the violent, ruthless occupation enforced by Israel over decades. I did not say that I rejoiced in violence, or that I hoped more people on one side or the other would die. Yet yesterday I was flooded with comments saying that I was

The ‘Deal of the Century’ is Apartheid
With great fanfare, President Trump finally unveiled his long-anticipated Middle East peace proposal. The proposal was labeled ‘The Deal of the Century’ because it was supposed to offer an even-handed and just solution to one of the world’s most intractable conflicts. Instead it does something very different. The ‘Deal of the Century’ resurrects and restores grand apartheid, a racist political system that should have been left in the dustbins of history.
Under President Trump’s newly unveiled peace plan, the Palestinians wil

Israel's War Criminals in Their Own Words
By Philip Giraldi
Israel’s public face, sustained and propagated by a wealthy and powerful diaspora that has significant control over the media, insists that the country is the Middle East’s only true democracy, that is operates under a rule of law for all its citizens and that its army is the “most moral in the world.” All of those assertions are false. Israel’s government favors its Jewish citizens through laws and regulations that are defined by religion. It in fact now identifies itself legally as a Jewish state with Christians and Muslim citizens having second class status. Israel’s army, meanwhile, h

Zionism, Judaism and the Jewish State of Israel: Separateness, ontological uniqueness and Jewish morality are its characteristics
The designation of Israel as an apartheid state characterized by apartheid- style laws has been accepted by leading jurists and many international organizations. As a former South African I not only know the meaning of the term in its original language of Afrikaans– separateness- but saw its effects upon the non-White population. In political practice, separate means unequal. It was only many years after my coming to Israel on aliya as a young Jewish woman and subsequent to obtainin

A little over four years ago, I drove to the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh to spend a day with a 12-year-old girl. Her name was Ahed Tamimi, and I was interviewing her for a magazine article, Children of the Occupation: Growing up in Palestine.
We talked about her life in the village, the constant presence of soldiers, the demolition order on her home, mermaids, football and hopscotch. She was elfin, with an uneasy mix of worldliness and naivety. Of the many children I met in the West Bank and Gaza over almost four years of covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for the Guardian, I found Ahed one of the mos
